Dick has somewhat recently returned to watercolor after being distracted by an academic career doing research. Dick was born in Boise, Idaho and then lived in Berkeley, CA, Walla Walla, WA and Lewiston, ID. His early art, prior to the academic hiatus, was inspired by his mother's work in watercolors and oil. He studied in Moscow, Idaho and Berkeley, California and spent 8 years doing research for the solider at Walter Reed in Washington, DC. He's been a Pittsburger since 1978. He works at Pitt...still doing some research. Classwork in watercolor has been with Kathleen Zimbecki and in adult art studies in Leiden, The Netherlands.
