Jill A. Whittaker

Artist's Statement

I find it difficult to pinpoint exactly what I'm saying with my artwork. I just know that if I wasn't making something I'd go nuts. I think process has become very important to me. Constantly trying new techniques, learning new methods, increasing my artistic vocabulary. I prefer to avoid political themes and I don't think about feminist issues. I do think about the journey we are all on, the paths chosen and not chosen, the transitions that occur, and the Quest for whatever we are looking for.

Jill Whittaker holds an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art, and a BA from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. An independent designer and metalsmith, Jill has exhibited nationally, and is a member of Associated Artists of Pittsburgh, Craftsman's Guild of Pittsburgh, Society of Sculptors, and Pittsburgh Metalsmith Society. Her works can be found in public and private collections.
