Artist's Statement

Creating a painting is a dance, a constant expression of feeling and response to the tactile qualities of materials. As the painting evolves, it takes on a life of its own even though influenced by personal thoughts and experiences. By using a combination of pigment and collage, design elements become formative in the development of the work. Mood, message, and symbols guide my art toward completion. Ultimately, the viewer may be drawn into the painting as a result of recalled experience or mutual understanding.

Judith Musser has been involved with art all of her life. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Chatham College in Pittsburgh, PA, and a Master of Arts in Painting from East Carolina University. Postgraduate work was done at The Cleveland Institute of Art, Cleveland, OH, and Seton Hill College in Greensburg, PA. She is an active member of Associated Artists of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Watercolor Society, Pittsburgh Print Group, The Boca Raton Museum Artist Guild, and National Association of Women Artists, Florida Chapter.
